Anita Ekberg
Kerstin
Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29 September 1931-11 January
2015) was an actress from Sweden, most well-known for her stunning physique and
attractive appearance. Her role as Sylvia, in Federico Fellini's 1960 film La
Dolce Vita (1960), made her well-known. Ekberg was born in Sweden on the 29th
September 1931. She was the sixth child of eight. As a teenager, Anita worked
as a fashion model. Ekberg, at the urging of her mother, in 1950 began to enter
Miss Malmo. The contest was won by her in the Miss Sweden contest. Even though
she could speak little English, Ekberg went to America to compete in the Miss
Universe 1951 title. This was an official pageant in the year 1951. The pageant
was officially made officially recognized in 1952. Ekberg did not win the Miss
Universe pageant. However, she was one six finalists. Universal Studios offered
her an exclusive starlet contract. As a starlet at Universal, she received
lessons in elocution, drama dancing, horseback riding, and fencing. She
appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello go to
Mars (1953), Take Me to Town (1953) and The Golden Blade (53).
