Thora Birch

Thora Birch, born March 11 1982 is an American actress. In 1988 she made her debut in a film in the film Purple People Eater. For the part, she won an Young Artist Award as "Best Young Actress Under Nine Years of Age". Birch was a child actress who appeared in films such as All I Want For Christmas (1991) as well as Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). The actress was awarded a Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film earned her a BAFTA nomination. Then, she starred as Enid in the cult classic Ghost World (2001), getting a nomination to the Golden Globe for Best Actress. Birch was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003 for her performance as the lead character in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Birch also starred on Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch was also a part of Whisperer Mary as well as Gamma in season 10 of The Walking Dead (2019-2020). Birch, Jack Birch's eldest son was born in Los Angeles. Birch was born into a family that originally was named Biersch, is German-Jewish and Scandinavian. She also is French-Canadian French-Canadian and Italian heritage. "Thora" is her name. It comes from the Norse god Thor who is the god of thunder and lightning. If she were a boy, that would be the full name. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother. Both parents had roles in adult-oriented films and starred in Deep Throat. They were reluctant to help Thora due to their previous experience working in the entertainment industry. But, a babysitter noticed Thora imitating commercials and got them to show Thora's photo to agents. Birch was given her first major breakthrough at the age of four, when the babysitter took her to a successful audition for an Quaker Oats commercial.
