Mary-Louise Parker

Mary-Louise Parker (born August 2, 1964) is an American actress. Following her Broadway debut as Rita in Craig Lucas's Prelude to a Kiss in 1990 (for which she received an Tony Award nomination), Parker gained notoriety for film roles in Grand Canyon (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The Client (1994), Bullets over Broadway (1994), A Place for Annie (1994), Boys on the Side (1995), The Portrait of a Lady (1996) as well as The Maker (1997). Parker was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress In a Play in 2001, for her role as Catherine Llewellyn, in David Auburn̢۪s Proof. She played Amy Gardner on NBC's television series The West Wing from 2001 to 2006. As a result of this role, she was nominated in 2002 for the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Supporting Actress In the Drama Series. The role she played as Harper Pitt in HBO's acclaimed mini-series Angels in America in 2002 was rewarded with an Primetime Emmy Award as well as an award from the Golden Globe. In 2006, Parker won the Golden Globe Award. In 2006, Parker was nominated to the Primetime Emmy Award. (2013) as well as Red 2 (2012). Parker returned to Broadway in the year 2019, and she was in The Sound Inside. This play won her her second Tony Award for Best Actress. Parker has written articles for Esquire magazine since 2007. She also published Dear Mr. You in 2015. The show was a starring role for Roma Guy in the ABC miniseries "When We Rise" in 2017. In 2018, she served as an advisor to the political on Billions the show, which is a Showtime show.
